Corporate Social Responsibility
Formula and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility)

Definition
Formula A/S' decision to initiate and conduct activities concerning the company's social responsibility is conducted in accordance with the definition of CSR described below:
CSR - signifies the company's voluntary efforts associated with the incorporation of social and environmental motives seen in relation to business activities, employees as well as the interaction with other company interests. Volunteer work involves activities which go above and beyond the regular observance of legislative measures.
Politics
Formula A/S' course of action includes a voluntarily described demand for activities within the area:
- We continuously take measures to curb resource consumption for each printed matter. It is a question of reducing the consumption of fossil fuels and CO2 release.
- Improvements to the environment and working environment, in order to minimize the burden on the ecosystem as much as possible. This is founded on the assumption that the impact on the environment includes the working environment and subsequently an effect on employees, hence a social responsibility for every single employee.
- Evaluation of suppliers and raw material.
- The incorporation of cleaner technology in the daily work routines. Cleaner technology translates into less environmental impact and a reduced CO2 release.
Environmental certifications
Formula A/S has taken steps to voluntarily register its production and operation under EMAS. The registration is in keeping with the certifying/auditing by Det Norske Veritas in accordance with ISO 14001 Standards.
Furthermore, Formula’s products are endorsed with the Nordic environmental stamp “The Swan”, which indicates that the product complies with the Nordic criteria for attaining an environmental certification.
The criteria are based on an evaluation of the life cycle of each product – from cradle to grave – and on what the most environmentally sound part of the market can perform. This ensures that the product has sound environmental means within its product category, and that health and quality receives particular attention.
The Danish Environmental Secretariat controls that the company’s products live up to the criteria.
Additionally, Formula received the FSC certification in January 2009. FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) contributes to ensure sustainable forest management throughout the world.
Finally, in 2010 Formula was certified to the "GA Climate Calculator", which enables us to offer carbon neutralized printed matter.
Energy streamlining
The environmental goals for 2010-2011, as phrased in the environmental statement for Formula A/S' production operations, includes:
- Reduction of paper waste
- Continued energy mapping of the company
With both goals in mind, it is a question of energy conservation and subsequently CO2 reducing measures.
At present, the company has not taken initiative to formulate quantitative goals for the reduction of its CO2 release.
Waste and recycling
Formula A/S follows a pre-sorting waste plan in order to forward the largest possible amount of waste for recycling.
